Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) has reported another outstanding drill intercept from hole CDH006 at the Cobrasco Project in Chocó, Colombia. The hole, collared on a step-out platform approximately 400 meters northwest of previous drill pads, returned 486 meters at 0.42% copper, 51 ppm molybdenum, and 1.20 g/t silver, including 232 meters at 0.68% copper, 75 ppm molybdenum, and 2.0 g/t silver from 38 meters depth. This confirms the continuity of the Cobrasco Central copper-molybdenum mineralization system to the northwest.
Drillhole CDH006 was designed to test the northwest extension of the mineralized system, intersecting near-surface mineralization at 38 meters within weathered saprolite and continuing through multiple anomalous intervals in rhyodacitic porphyries to a faulted contact at 808 meters. The high-grade intercept includes a 4.6% copper and 1,495 ppm molybdenum sample from 46 to 48 meters, associated with a low-angle fault structure. The company has completed two additional holes, CDH007 and CDH008, from the same drill platform, with assays pending.
According to President and CEO Joseph van den Elsen, every scout drillhole completed to date has intersected significant intervals of copper-molybdenum mineralization, extending the mineralization footprint to at least 950 by 525 meters within the emerging Cobrasco Central zone. The system remains open in all directions, and the company plans to continue broadly spaced scout drilling to define its limits and test newly developed targets. Preparations are also underway to mobilize a second drill rig for infill drilling and definition of new targets.
The geology of CDH006 shows a clear association between structural preparation—shearing and brecciation—and the resulting degrees of alteration and mineralization. The upper 270 meters contain the standout intercept, characterized by magmatic brecciation and increased A-veins with high copper and molybdenum grades. Below 270 meters, mineralization decreases but continues sporadically to the end of the hole at 898.90 meters. The company noted that the mineralized system remains open in all directions and will continue to be targeted in the ongoing drill program.
