The Gabcikovo hydroelectric power plant, a cornerstone of Slovakia's energy grid, is set for a comprehensive modernization. International technology group ANDRITZ, in partnership with Slovak engineering firm VUJE, has been awarded a contract by VODOHOSPODARSKA VYSTAVBA to undertake this significant project. The plant, located on the Danube River, is the largest hydroelectric facility in Slovakia and contributes approximately 10% of the nation's electricity production, making its reliable operation vital to the country's energy security.
The project entails the thorough renewal and upgrade of the plant's electromechanical equipment, which currently boasts a total capacity of 720 MW.
