AT&S, a leading manufacturer of high-end IC substrates and printed circuit boards, announced the appointment of Gerrit Steen as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and member of the Management Board, effective February 1, 2026. The Supervisory Board approved a three-year term for Steen, who brings over 25 years of international finance leadership experience across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States. With this change, AT&S will streamline its Executive Board to three members: CEO Michael Mertin, CFO Gerrit Steen, and CTO Peter Griehsnig. Ingolf Schröder will step down from the Executive Board but remain with the company as EVP, leading the Business Unit Microelectronics.
Steen previously served as Group CFO of DAMAC Group in Dubai, a diversified investment, real estate, and technology company with revenues exceeding USD 5 billion. He also held senior roles at Fresenius Group and technology firm Heraeus, including Global CFO and CEO for the Asia region of Fresenius Kabi AG. His expertise spans financial strategy, transformation, and global growth in both privately held and publicly listed companies. “I am very pleased to have the opportunity to join such a renowned high-tech company as AT&S as CFO. Supported by its strong technology capabilities, AT&S is very well positioned to benefit from global trends such as digitalization, connectivity, and electrification,” Steen said. “Together with the Supervisory Board, the Management Board and the entire AT&S organization, I look forward to helping turn these opportunities into profitable growth through disciplined financial management and clear capital allocation.”
AT&S Chairman of the Supervisory Board Andy Mattes welcomed Steen, noting his extensive global experience and expertise in financial strategy, transformation, and growth. “His extensive expertise in financial strategy, transformation, and global growth, combined with his experience in Asia and the United States, will be of great value for the future development of our company,” Mattes said. The streamlining of the Executive Board reflects AT&S’s focus on efficient decision-making as it navigates the rapidly evolving electronics industry. The company serves key digital sectors including mobile devices, automotive, aerospace, industrial, medical, and high-performance computing for AI applications. With production sites in Austria, China, Malaysia, and India, and a European R&D center in Leoben, AT&S employs around 13,000 people. More information is available at www.ats.net.
