Baltimore's 'Charm'tastic Mile' Seeks Unprecedented $1.25 Billion 100-Year Agreement with City

The 'Charm'tastic Mile' of Baltimore, a federally registered trademark street spanning 1.3 miles from S. Greene and W. Pratt Street to S. President and Fleet Street, is negotiating a 100-year agreement with the city valued at $1.25 billion. The proposed deal, which would be signed with Mayor Brandon Scott and the City Council in 2026, is designed to cement the corridor's place among America's most famous streets as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.

According to a press release from the organization, the agreement breaks down into four 25-year phases: $125 million for 2026-2051, $250 million for 2051-2076, $375 million for 2076-2101, and $500 million for 2101-2126, totaling $1.25 billion. The annual average value of $12.5 million is comparable to the salary of an above-average Major League Baseball player, underscoring the scale of the investment.

The 'Charm'tastic Mile', which celebrated its 10th anniversary on April 25, 2026, is the only U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) registered trademark street in Baltimore and the State of Maryland. It joined the ranks of Chicago's Magnificent Mile, Rodeo Drive, and the Las Vegas Strip when its trademark was published on September 15, 2020. Mayor Scott and Governor Wes Moore both recognized the milestone with a Certificate of Recognition and a Governor's Citation, respectively.

The corridor, which connects downtown west, the Inner Harbor, and Harbor East, is already listed on Google as one of the top 10-15 most famous streets in America. Proponents argue that the 100-year agreement will solidify its status as the city moves forward with a nearly $1 billion construction project in the Inner Harbor. The deal is seen as a catalyst for the growing 'Famous Streets & Sports Culture In America' movement, positioning the 'Charm'tastic Mile' as a key driver in the global economy of trademarked streets.

The announcement comes as the city prepares for the USA 250th celebrations, with the agreement intended to be a lasting legacy. Derrick E Vaughan, an analyst for Famous Streets & Sports Culture In America, is available for media inquiries but was not quoted in the release. The 'Charm'tastic Mile' shares its introduction date of April 25 with the iconic Domino Sugars neon sign, which was first lit 65 years earlier in 1951.
