Bestselling author and award-winning filmmaker Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein has announced a special free screening of her new film, I Had An Affair With My Husband, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 6 pm at Basie Center Cinemas Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey. The film, which explores a humorous and unique dynamic between a married couple, is set for release in late June 2026.
The story follows a wife who falls in love with a new voice her husband develops, leading to an improved intimate life but also triggering intense jealousy in the husband toward his own voice. The couple navigates these unusual feelings and eventually seeks help from a therapist to address the disconnect between the husband's persona and this new identity. Ultimately, they reach an honest understanding, realizing that while the voice is a fantasy they can occasionally enjoy, their real love remains the foundation of their relationship.
Dr. Holstein, a positive psychologist, co-created the film with her husband, Dr. Russell Holstein. The couple drew from their own experiences. 'We were the patients in real life that had to work through what we felt,' Dr. Holstein stated. 'As psychologists we ended up believing that there are many facets to romance that are difficult but also can be fun and amazing.'
In addition to the film, Dr. Holstein is offering a free ebook of Women's Freedom, Unfinished Love Stories, 2nd Edition on June 28 and 29, 2026, available at Amazon. The book explores the struggles and desires of young women in the 1960s, delving into sexuality, identity, and self-discovery. It introduces three college students navigating their sexual energies and paths to their futures, mirroring the experiences of women throughout history.
