BOXABL Inc. (NASDAQ: BXBL), a factory-built construction company known for its foldable Casita housing units, has unveiled a new concept that could expand its modular manufacturing expertise into the booming data center sector. The company introduced its Server Pod concept, a design study for factory-assembled enclosures intended to house AI and cloud computing infrastructure. However, BOXABL emphasized that the Server Pod is currently only a concept and is not being manufactured, with the initiative designed to showcase its factory capabilities and invite potential partners for custom design and manufacturing collaborations.
The concept configurations range from a compact 10-foot Server Pod, envisioned to support 0.5 petaflop operations per second, to a sprawling 2,500-square-foot Server Tron, capable of 16 petaflops. Actual configurations, engineering specifications, cooling approaches, and equipment choices would be determined in partnership with customers. BOXABL believes that factory-built, repeatable structures could help tackle the speed, cost, and labor challenges that data center developers face. Citing JLL's 2026 Global Data Center Market Outlook, the company noted that the sector is expected to grow at a 14% compound annual growth rate through 2030, with roughly 100 GW of new capacity coming online from 2026 to 2030 and up to $3 trillion in total investment potentially required.
BOXABL is actively seeking engagement with data center developers, hyperscalers, colocation providers, equipment manufacturers, and other partners interested in contracting the company to design and manufacture custom modular structures. The company cautioned that there is no assurance that any agreement will be reached or that any Server Pod or similar product will be built. This move represents a strategic diversification for BOXABL, which has primarily focused on affordable housing solutions since its inception in 2017. The company has raised over $230 million from more than 50,000 investors and is headquartered in North Las Vegas. Its flagship product, the Casita, is a 361-square-foot studio unit that unfolds on-site in under an hour, and it also offers the smaller 120-square-foot Baby Box and is developing stackable modules for larger residential applications.
