The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) announced that its original documentary Chatsworth Through Time will air on public television stations across the United States in August 2026. The program, distributed by American Public Television (APT), offers an in-depth look at the Chatsworth estate in Derbyshire, England, which has been home to the Devonshire family for 500 years.
Located in the Peak District National Park, Chatsworth is one of the most well-known estates in Great Britain. Over the centuries, the Dukes and Duchesses of Devonshire have renovated and expanded the house to reflect new political developments, social realities, and changing styles. The documentary explores the history, architecture, landscape, and artworks of the estate, which houses one of Europe's most significant collections of fine art.
Hosted by Chatsworth's senior curators, Chatsworth Through Time begins in the Tudor Period and progresses through five hundred years of history to the 21st century. The program culminates in an extended interview with the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. Produced by the ICAA, the film features unparalleled access to an extraordinary collection of historically significant architecture, fine craftsmanship, and rare artworks accumulated over seventeen generations.

The ICAA, a nonprofit membership organization based in New York City, aims to advance the appreciation and practice of traditional architecture and its allied arts. The documentary is part of the ICAA's original film series, Design in Mind. The institute also publishes the Classicist journal and the Classical America Series in Art and Architecture, and produces the biweekly content series World of Classicism.
Chatsworth, a registered charity managed by the Chatsworth House Trust, comprises a Grade I listed house and stables, a 105-acre garden, a 1,822-acre park, and a farmyard and adventure playground. American Public Television, founded in 1961, distributes 250 new program titles per year and nearly half of the top 100 highest-rated public television titles in the U.S. Programs such as America's Test Kitchen, Rick Steves' Europe, and Doc Martin are among its catalog. The broadcast of Chatsworth Through Time will bring the estate's rich history to a national audience, highlighting its architectural and artistic significance.
