Chiropractic Clinic Launches $1,000 Scholarship to Support Future Pain Relief Providers

Mid Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic, a Baltimore-based provider of chiropractic care and physical therapy, has opened applications for its $1,000 Pain Relief and Wellness Scholarship. The scholarship, announced by the practice, is designed to support students pursuing careers dedicated to alleviating pain and enhancing wellness. Applications will be accepted through August 31, 2027, with the recipient to be announced in September 2027.

The scholarship matters because it addresses a critical need in healthcare: the demand for skilled professionals who can help patients manage pain. As the opioid crisis continues and an aging population faces chronic pain, the role of chiropractors, physical therapists, and other pain relief specialists becomes increasingly vital. By investing in students who share this mission, Mid Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic is helping to build a pipeline of compassionate, well-trained providers.

Eligibility is broad. Students enrolled in accredited undergraduate, graduate, or professional programs in the United States, including community college students, can apply. High school seniors and GED holders who have been accepted to or are enrolled in an accredited program also qualify. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 and submit an essay of 1,000 words or fewer, an updated resume, and an unofficial transcript. The essay must explain what inspired the applicant to help people with pain, what they have done toward that goal, and how their education will help them achieve it.

Dr. Marc Gulitz, founder of Mid Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic, emphasized the practice's commitment to this cause. "Every day, our doctors and staff see how much relieving pain can change a person's physical and mental health," Gulitz said. "This scholarship lets us invest in a student who shares that purpose, whether they plan to become a chiropractor, a physical therapist, a nurse, or another provider focused on helping others recover." Gulitz holds a B.S. in molecular biology from Lehigh University and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College, and he serves on the board of the Maryland Chiropractic Association.

The practice, founded in Baltimore in 2012, has grown to include 14 chiropractors and serves patients across Baltimore City and five surrounding Maryland counties. Its services include chiropractic care, physical therapy, corrective exercises, spinal and postural screenings, and lifestyle advice. The scholarship reflects the practice's broader mission to improve community health by supporting the next generation of pain relief professionals.

For students, the $1,000 award can help offset tuition, books, or other educational expenses, reducing financial barriers to entering healthcare fields. The scholarship is not limited to one field of study, but each essay must demonstrate a clear commitment to pain relief and wellness. This flexibility encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds, including nursing, physical therapy, and chiropractic programs, to apply.

As healthcare systems increasingly recognize the value of non-pharmacological pain management, scholarships like this play a role in shaping the future workforce. By supporting students who are passionate about pain relief, Mid Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic is contributing to a healthier society and highlighting the importance of holistic, patient-centered care.
