Clym Environmental Services, LLC officially opened its new processing facility in Frostburg, Maryland, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 27, 2026. The event drew more than 100 attendees, including elected officials, industry leaders, and community partners, who gathered to mark the company's expansion into the region.
The ceremony featured a VIP tour of the facility, along with information stations detailing the company's ozone treatment technology and the solar installation provided by Energy Select. The new facility, once fully operational, will process biohazardous material using Clym's proprietary ozone treatment, converting it into safe, reusable materials. The technology generates ozone from ambient air and is powered entirely by solar energy, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional thermal treatment methods.
The event opened with remarks from Juli McCoy, President & CEO of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, and Richard Police, Director of Business Development at Clym. Speakers included Charles Watts, President of Clym; Maryland Secretary of Commerce Harry Coker; Allegany County Commissioner Bill Atkinson; Jeff Barclay, Director of Allegany County Economic Development; and Kelly Schulz, CEO of the Maryland Tech Council.
McCoy highlighted the facility's impact, stating, "Today we celebrate the future. Clym Environmental will create living-wage jobs, and its operations, using technology and environmental science, make its proximity to Frostburg State University a perfect fit for the Frostburg Business Park and Allegany County."
The ribbon-cutting follows several milestones for Clym, including recognition as the Life Sciences Innovation of the Year at the Maryland Tech Council's 2026 ICON Awards. The company also received a certificate of congressional recognition from Congresswoman April McClain Delaney, presented by Kendall Abruzzese, Western Maryland Outreach Coordinator. Abruzzese praised Clym's "pioneering work in environmentally friendly and innovative waste management biotechnology" and thanked the company for its contribution to workforce opportunities and long-term economic growth in Western Maryland.
The new facility underscores Clym's commitment to sustainable practices in the life sciences, healthcare, and pharmaceutical sectors. By employing solar-powered ozone technology, the company aims to set a new standard for waste management while supporting regional economic development. As the facility becomes fully operational, it is expected to create living-wage jobs and further establish Allegany County as a hub for environmental innovation.
