A serious Detroit streetcar crash that occurred on Nov. 30, 2023, has left an Uber passenger with significant injuries, mounting medical bills, and an uncertain recovery, prompting Kajy Law Firm, PLLC to call for greater accountability from the Regional Transit Authority (RTA). The crash involved an approximately 88,000-pound QLINE streetcar and an Uber vehicle traveling on Woodward Avenue, drawing public attention due to the severity of the victim's injuries and the legal complexities surrounding governmental immunity.
The injured Detroit man was riding in an Uber when the QLINE streetcar struck the vehicle. He later described the crash as devastating. Since then, he has reported a month-long hospital stay, cervical spine fusion surgery, the use of a cane, an inability to work, and approximately $500,000 in medical bills.
