A standout moment involved an 8-year-old boy who, alongside his older sister, had just taken the Drug-Free Pledge. After receiving a Truth About Drugs booklet, he was encouraged to use it to protect himself, his friends, and his family. Spotting a public service announcement about the dangers of alcohol on the booth's television, he asked, "Oh wow! If you do drugs, can you get into an accident like the one in the video?" After confirmation and learning that additional educational videos were available online, he eagerly requested the website address, stating, "I'm going to watch all the videos."
This interaction underscores the importance of providing factual information to youth, empowering them to make informed decisions. Drug Free World continues to empower youth and families through its resources, as part of the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, a nonprofit that offers the secular Truth About Drugs program and materials free of charge. With a network of some 200 chapters globally, the foundation has distributed 100 million prevention booklets and held tens of thousands of awareness events in about 180 countries. Its public service announcements have aired on more than 500 television stations, helping people worldwide learn about the destructive effects of drugs.
The foundation's free Truth About Drugs E-Courses are designed to let individuals learn at their own pace, covering what drugs are, their composition, short- and long-term effects, and real stories from people about popular drugs.
