DTLA ArtNight, Downtown Los Angeles's monthly celebration of arts, culture, and community, has announced its largest expansion to date with the official inclusion of the Fashion District, effective Thursday, August 6, 2026. The move integrates the Fashion District with Grand Avenue and the Historic Core, creating a unified cultural corridor that highlights the diversity and creativity of the area.
The expansion reflects DTLA ArtNight's mission to activate Downtown Los Angeles and connect neighborhoods through arts and culture. Michael Angelo DeLance, President of DTLA ArtNight and Happening In DTLA, emphasized the importance of this step: "Expanding into the Fashion District is an exciting next step as we continue building one connected Downtown." This initiative is poised to strengthen the local arts scene and foster economic growth by drawing visitors to a wider array of venues.
The Fashion District, long known for fashion and design, has evolved into a hub for galleries and creative businesses. New partners include the Bendix Building, Kelly O'Brien Atelier × Not For Resale LA, CRE8, Mary at The STILE Hotel, and Zenith Gallery. Kelly O'Brien, founder of Kelly O'Brien Atelier, noted, "Experiences like DTLA ArtNight strengthen the Fashion District as a destination for art, fashion, and creativity." Mary at The STILE Hotel, located in the historic United Artists Building, adds a hospitality component, offering coffee, cocktails, and live music.
On Grand Avenue, DTLA ArtNight continues its partnerships with cultural institutions like DATALAND, The Broad, MOCA, Grand Performances, and The Colburn School. DATALAND will present its inaugural exhibition, Machine Dreams: Rainforest, described as the world's first omni-sensory AI art experience. Refik Anadol, Co-Founder and Artistic Director, expressed excitement: "We are excited to open our doors and share it with the public."
A highlight of the August edition is a classical music collaboration between Grand Performances and The Colburn School at Spiral Court at California Plaza. The program, conducted by students and alumni, features works by Joseph Bologne, Bach, Reena Esmail, and others, reflecting diverse cultural perspectives. Rafael González, President & CEO of Grand Performances, said, "Great programming should surprise and inspire... showcasing extraordinary music performed by students and alumni that spans cultures, generations, and traditions."
The event also includes a photography experience hosted by Samy's Camera and Sony Electronics at Emergent Gallery. Participants can borrow Sony cameras to photograph the event and enter a competition with a $2,000 prize. Roui Kamienowicz, COO of Samy's Camera, encouraged community engagement: "We want to encourage people to get out, explore Los Angeles, try incredible Sony equipment, and share their unique perspective."
Additionally, The Biltmore Los Angeles will host photographer Andrei Duman's exhibition The Art of X Rays, with live jazz and an artist book signing.
