Emerald Cruises & Tours has announced the successful completion of sea trials for its newest super yacht, Emerald Kaia, in Halong Bay, Vietnam. The milestone brings the vessel one step closer to its inaugural sailing, an 11-day "Cyprus to the Acropolis" itinerary departing Limassol on April 4, 2026. The trials confirmed the yacht's performance, maneuverability, and seaworthiness, allowing the Scenic Group to proceed with final commissioning.
Designed for an intimate luxury experience, Emerald Kaia accommodates up to 128 guests and features Missoni decor and furnishings across expansive lounges, terraces, and decks. New interconnecting suites offer flexibility for families and groups, while all staterooms and suites provide contemporary comfort. Highlights include an Observation Sun Deck with an additional Spa Pool, sun loungers, and shaded areas, plus an innovative indoor/outdoor gym adjacent to the marina platform for swimming access.
The yacht debuts a new design for signature restaurant La Cucina, featuring a vibrant open kitchen. A new Night Market Grill offers private dining for eight guests at an additional cost. "This milestone is a testament to the dedication of everyone involved in the project. Operationally, this sea trial has delivered excellent results and allows us to proceed with the final phase of commissioning with confidence," said James Griffiths, Scenic Group General Manager, Ocean Operations.
Emerald Kaia will join sister yachts Emerald Azzurra and Emerald Sakara in the Emerald Yacht Cruises fleet, with future additions Emerald Raiya (2027) and Emerald Xara (2028) already planned. The successful sea trials are a key indicator of Scenic Group's commitment to expanding its luxury yacht offerings. For more information on Emerald Cruises, visit www.emeraldcruises.com. Scenic Group's portfolio also includes Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours and Mayflower Cruises & Tours, covering river, ocean, and land journeys across all seven continents.
The announcement comes as the Scenic Group continues to invest in fleet expansion. Emerald Kaia's sea trials in Halong Bay, conducted from the group's shipyard, mark a critical phase before delivery and the highly anticipated inaugural sailing. The yacht's design emphasizes relaxed luxury, with amenities aimed at enhancing guest experience in warm-water destinations. The 2026 season will also see the debut of Emerald Astra, the 10th Star-Ship in the river fleet, and Emerald Lumi in 2027, the brand's first Seine River vessel.
