The Entertainment Expo Hong Kong 2026, taking place from March 15 to April 19, will feature eight signature events spanning film, television, music, and digital entertainment. This year's Expo, spearheaded by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) and the Film Development Fund, aims to strengthen cross-regional exchange in film and entertainment culture. The Expo has invited Leon Lai as Hong Kong Entertainment Ambassador to help promote Hong Kong as a leading hub for film and entertainment in Asia.
The Expo's eight major events include the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART), the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), the Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA), the Asian Film Awards, the Digital Entertainment Summit, EntertainmentPulse, the Hong Kong - Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), and the Microfilm Production Support Scheme (Music). The kick-off ceremony will be held on March 17 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, marking the 30th edition of FILMART and the 50th edition of HKIFF.
FILMART, organised by the HKTDC, will be held from March 17 to 20, bringing together more than 790 exhibitors from over 30 countries and regions. Over 30 regional pavilions will represent markets including France, Italy, Korea, the UK, the US, and ASEAN members. The event will host the second edition of Producers Connect, featuring a keynote forum with renowned director Peter Chan and Golden Globe-winning producer Janet Yang. The AI Hub will expand its scale, bringing together companies like Alibaba Cloud, Kling AI, MiniMax, and Vidu, alongside local academic institutions. The newly launched AI Academy will host over 15 thematic workshops on leveraging AI tools for film production.
The 50th HKIFF, running from April 1 to 12, adopts the theme "50 and Beyond: Framing the Future." Actors Angela Yuen and Tony Wu will serve as ambassadors, with Gingle Wang and Metawin Opas-iamkajorn appointed as Asian Visionary Ambassadors. A special exhibition at Hong Kong City Hall will showcase the festival's half-century contribution to film art, and the festival will collaborate with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra for the Asian premiere of "In the Mood for Love in Concert."
The 44th Hong Kong Film Awards will take place on April 19, with Michelle Wai and Edan Lui announcing nominations. Sons of the Neon Night leads with 12 nominations, followed by Back to the Past with 11. The 19th Asian Film Awards will feature masterclasses and "In Conversation" sessions with guests including Zhang Ziyi, Jia Zhangke, and Hwang Dong-hyuk.
The Digital Entertainment Summit, on March 19, will focus on "Animation Without Borders," exploring IP innovation and cross-border collaboration. EntertainmentPulse, held concurrently with FILMART, will gather industry leaders to discuss AI, video streaming, financing, and micro-short dramas. The Hong Kong - Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) will feature 42 shortlisted projects from 22 countries, and the Microfilm Production Support Scheme (Music) will hold its Awards Ceremony on March 20.
