FleetCollect Launches AI Connector for Truckers to Query Compliance Data via ChatGPT and Claude

FleetCollect, a trucking compliance software platform serving owner-operators and small fleets across the United States, has launched an AI connector that enables users to query their fleet's IFTA fuel tax, DOT compliance, and carrier data using natural language through AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT. The connector is built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard designed to securely connect AI assistants to external data and tools.

For many small carriers, critical operational information is already stored in their records—spread across quarterly IFTA reports, driver files, dispatch logs, and federal databases. Traditionally, accessing this data required navigating through specific screens and manually reading the information. FleetCollect's new connector eliminates this step: after a one-time connection between the user's FleetCollect account and an AI assistant, operators can simply ask questions and receive direct, plain-language answers drawn from their own data. For example, users can inquire about IFTA miles by state for the last quarter, upcoming driver document expirations, total dispatch loads and revenue, or their drug-testing status.

Beyond a carrier's own records, the connector offers live FMCSA carrier vetting. By providing a USDOT or MC number, users can access real-time Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration data, including operating authority, insurance, and safety information. This feature allows brokers and dispatchers to verify partner carriers without leaving the conversation.

Security and privacy are at the forefront of the connector's design. All 14 tools within the connector are read-only, meaning the AI can retrieve and summarize information but cannot alter, delete, or create any records. Driver personally identifiable information—such as emails, phone numbers, and license numbers—is filtered out and never returned. Each request is scoped to the authenticated account, ensuring that operators only access their own data. The connector utilizes OAuth 2.1 with Dynamic Client Registration and PKCE, the current standard for third-party application access, allowing users to authorize the connection with their existing FleetCollect login and revoke it at any time.

Herman Armstrong, founder of FleetCollect, emphasized the practical benefits: "Owner-operators didn't get into trucking to click through dashboards. We built this so a driver can just ask—'what do I owe in IFTA,' 'which of my guys is about to expire,' 'is this carrier legit'—and get a straight answer from their own numbers. We made it read-only and privacy-filtered on purpose: it answers questions, it doesn't touch your data."

The FleetCollect connector is available to customers with an active subscription and is being submitted to the Claude connector directory and the ChatGPT app directory. Operators can connect today using the server URL https://app.fleetcollect.net/mcp. More information is available at https://fleetcollect.net/developers.

FleetCollect's platform encompasses IFTA fuel tax tracking, DOT Driver Qualification File management under 49 CFR Part 391, and a nationwide DOT drug and alcohol testing program—all now accessible through a single AI connector.
