Garuda Indonesia Offers 170,000 Free Domestic Seats to Boost Multi-Destination Travel

Garuda Indonesia is offering 170,845 domestic roundtrip seats at no additional fare to eligible international passengers flying to Indonesia from 14 origin cities across 10 countries. The initiative, running from 1 August to 30 November 2026, is designed to encourage travellers to extend their journeys beyond the main international gateways of Jakarta and Denpasar, thereby supporting longer stays and multi-destination travel.

The Free Domestic Flight program allows passengers holding roundtrip international tickets to Indonesia to add a domestic roundtrip journey as part of their itinerary. This connectivity is expected to benefit not only international tourists but also members of the Indonesian diaspora, migrant workers, and citizens returning from overseas who wish to visit their home regions or other destinations.

Garuda Indonesia Marketing Group Head Prina Eka Putri emphasized the strategic importance of combining the airline's international reach with its domestic network. "Indonesia offers far more than a single destination. By making onward domestic travel easier, we want international travellers to stay longer, explore more regions and experience more of what Indonesia has to offer," she said. The program is part of the #DiscoverMoreIndonesia campaign, which aims to disperse visitor flows and tourism spending across the archipelago.

The allocation of more than 170,000 seats is designed to increase the economic value generated by each international arrival. Agny Gallus Pratama, Garuda Indonesia Southeast Asia Branch Manager and Head of the Free Domestic Flight Project Management Office, noted that when visitors travel further and stay longer, the economic impact extends to hotels, restaurants, local transportation, tourism operators, and MSMEs across regions. By connecting international traffic directly with its domestic network, the airline expects to create greater value from each arrival and enable more destinations to benefit from international tourism.

This initiative also enhances Garuda Indonesia's competitiveness in international markets by offering travellers seamless access to multiple destinations within a single itinerary. The program is a strategic move to leverage the breadth of the domestic network, making Indonesia a more attractive and convenient destination for international visitors.
