GatherGrounds Resorts has completed the acquisition of The Oaks Campground, a 155-acre property in Munith, Michigan, promising significant improvements for the 2026 season and beyond. The campground, located adjacent to the Waterloo State Recreation Area—the largest state park in Michigan's Lower Peninsula—offers direct access to expansive natural landscapes and outdoor activities. It is also eight minutes from the public boat ramp at Portage Lake, an all-sports lake, and borders the Haehnle Bird Sanctuary, known for its diverse bird species.
Under new management, GatherGrounds Resorts plans to revitalize approximately 120 acres of wooded riding and recreation trails suitable for mountain biking, golf carts, horseback riding, and hiking. Enhancements to the beach area of the on-site swimming lake will include new lounge chairs and a sand volleyball court, along with the installation of a Wibit inflatable waterpark. The campground features a second lake dedicated to fishing with multiple docks, an on-site camp store offering firewood, ice, and ice cream, and two bathhouses with showers and laundry facilities.
Future plans include more modern, family-oriented amenities and an expanded schedule of weekend activities and events aimed at building community connections. GatherGrounds Resorts will provide regular updates as development progresses. Returning campers and new visitors are welcome starting with the 2026 season.
