Golden Cariboo Resources Ltd. has completed the purchase of a 5.36-acre freehold property in Hixon, British Columbia, for $300,000 CAD, securing a permanent camp that will allow the company to conduct exploration and development activities at its Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property throughout the year. The acquisition, first announced in May 2026, marks a strategic investment in operational readiness and long-term capacity, according to the company.
The property comprises two adjacent lots on Highway 97 and is located near the Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property, which sits about four kilometers northeast of Hixon in central British Columbia. The company has already mobilized its Atco 5 unit skid-mounted trailers to the site to provide near-term accommodation and operational support infrastructure for field personnel and contractors. The move is intended to support continuous exploration and development, enabling Golden Cariboo to operate 12 months a year rather than seasonally.
Company President and CEO J. Frank Callaghan said the ability to work year-round sets Golden Cariboo apart from many peer group companies. He added that the acquisition will support the company’s focus on building upon and expanding its inaugural NI 43-101 Mineral Resource Estimate announced on September 30, 2026.
Water studies, permitting and engineered plans are currently in progress to assist with the installation of camp infrastructure. Aqua Tech Ltd from Kelowna and Western Water Associates Ltd out of nearby Prince George have been onsite to complete water testing and water quality analysis, which includes review by Northern Health. Results are pending. Either the existing water licence at the camp will be transferred to the company or a new licence may need to be applied for. Additionally, Golden Cariboo has engaged Prince George-based L&M Engineering Ltd. to complete engineering plans and permitting for either an upgraded or new septic system to support the camp. The company said this work ensures the site will be fully functional and compliant with applicable regulations.
The Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property includes the Quesnelle Quartz gold-silver deposit, discovered in 1865 and developed over a footprint of about 150 meters by 150 meters at the Main zone straddling Hixon Creek. The property is bordered by Osisko Gold Group Inc. and is partly intertwined with Osisko at the north end of the Cariboo Gold Project, located along a favourable corridor adjacent to the Spanish and Eureka thrust faults over a 96,183-hectare area. The company notes that the geological setting shows strong similarities with the Spanish Mountain gold deposit, situated 120 kilometers to the southeast along the same geological trend.
The camp acquisition is significant because it removes a seasonal constraint on exploration at a property the company is actively working to expand. By securing year-round accommodations and support infrastructure, Golden Cariboo aims to accelerate drilling and trenching programs without the logistical hurdles of seasonal mobilization. The pending water and septic approvals will determine how quickly the camp becomes fully operational, but the company has already taken steps to position the site for near-term use.
