The 36th Hong Kong Book Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place from 15 to 21 July 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Running concurrently with the Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and the World of Snacks, the three fairs are expected to gather over 770 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions, providing a one-stop destination for culture, sports, and leisure.
This year's Book Fair adopts "Cultural Legacy | Joyful Journeys" as its annual theme, aiming to inspire readers to explore cultural heritage and innovation through reading. More than 600 cultural events will be held at the fairground and across the city, inviting the public to experience local traditions and global creativity. Jenny Koo, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, stated that the theme encourages readers to delve into the heritage and innovation of traditional culture in modern society while embracing cultural and eco-tourism.
Key highlights include the "World of Art & Culture" zone, featuring the "World in Words, A Voyage of the Heart" exhibition, which connects Hong Kong stories with world literature through six interactive set-ups. The exhibition, supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency, showcases over 200 books and items from around the world, making travel literature accessible and engaging.
The Book Fair also hosts eight seminar series, including the Renowned Writers Seminar Series co-organized with Ming Pao and Yazhou Zhoukan. Featured speakers include Liu Zhenyun, Su Tong, Bi Feiyu, and Liu Jiakun. The English and International Books Seminar Series welcomes British poet Luke Kennard and Joe Ngai from McKinsey & Company. This year, the ASEAN Literary Festival is introduced for the first time, featuring authors Eka Kurniawan and Clarissa Goenawan, fostering cultural exchange with ASEAN countries.
Other notable speakers include aerospace experts such as Professor Wu Bo from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Professor Gao Yang from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, who will discuss the nation's space missions. The "International Publishing Forum" and "IP Roundtable" will analyze publishing trends and market opportunities.
The Cultural and Creative Space returns with pavilions from Fujian, Hangzhou, and Hong Kong exhibitor Tsi Ku Chai, showcasing intangible cultural heritage crafts. The Chinese Mainland Publishers zone features 49 organizations, spotlighting Yunnan province. The Hong Kong Jockey Club sets up a themed exhibition area promoting healthy lifestyles.
Community initiatives include the "Joyful Reading Lucky Rewards" campaign by Sino Group, sponsoring underprivileged families to visit the fair. The "Fun Reading Day" organized by the Hong Kong Chinese Importers’ & Exporters’ Association enables grassroots students to participate.
The Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo offers sports experiences and fitness products, including the "Fit & Fearless Challenge" by the Hong Kong Playground Association and pickleball apparel by Cyber Smart Limited. My Mini Zoo, Hong Kong's first indoor interactive animal experience space, will exhibit for the first time, providing educational family fun.
The World of Snacks features over 1,300 snacks from nearly 30 countries, including local brand Amore Hand Baked's peanut cookies and Do Did Dust's soybean by-product crisps. Freeze-dried candy products from Night Fever Limited and high-protein crisps from Goods2buy cater to diverse tastes.
A single ticket grants access to all three events. Adult tickets are priced at HK$30, with concessions for children, seniors, and tourists.
