Hong Kong Electronics Fairs Draw 61,000 Buyers as AI and Robotics Demand Surges

The 46th Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and the 29th electronicAsia concluded with more than 61,000 buyers from 141 countries and regions, reinforcing Hong Kong's position as an international trading hub for the electronics industry. The four-day events, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and MMI Asia, featured over 3,200 exhibitors from 15 countries and showcased the latest in AI, robotics, and smart technologies.

Buyers from outside Hong Kong came mainly from the Chinese Mainland, India, Japan, and the United States, with attendance from Kazakhstan, Brazil, and other emerging markets recording encouraging growth. The fairs generated significant sourcing momentum, with 130 buying missions organised by the HKTDC involving buyers from 65 countries and regions, including Samsung Electronics and SSG.com from Korea, Mercado Libre from Argentina, and Reichelt Elektronik from Germany. This diverse buyer base underscores Hong Kong's unique ability to connect global markets with innovative supply chains.

A key highlight was the strong demand for AI and robotics technologies. The fairs featured more than 120 robots, primarily at the RoboPark, demonstrating applications across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and entertainment sectors. Leading companies such as UBTECH, AgiBot, and DEEP Robotics showcased advancements in bringing robotics from R&D to commercial deployment. Booster Robotics, winner of the 2026 RoboCup World Championship, attracted around 100 buyer visits daily and expects to appoint distributors in Hong Kong to accelerate commercialisation. The newly introduced Future Industries Zone spotlighted five key themes, including Future Computing and Future Manufacturing, and brought together over 100 companies. Hong Kong company Xeroptix Technology Limited, which presented AI brain technologies for robots, engaged with more than 50 potential clients and expects potential orders worth over US$1 million.

An independent survey of over 1,150 buyers and exhibitors found that 96% expected overall sales to increase or remain stable over the next 12 to 24 months, with the most promising growth opportunities identified in ASEAN (83%), the Middle East (83%), and the Chinese Mainland (81%). The adoption of AI continues to accelerate, with 74% of surveyed companies already applying or planning to apply generative AI technologies, and nearly 60% identifying AI as the technology expected to have the greatest impact on the industry over the next two years.

The fairs also underscored Hong Kong's role as a bridge for Chinese Mainland enterprises expanding overseas. The GoGlobal Connect Zone offered support on financing, intellectual property, compliance, and logistics, and received an enthusiastic response. Huahon Data Technology, a provider of liquid-cooled AI computing systems, connected with buyers from Asia, the Middle East, and Europe and intends to establish a registered company in Hong Kong within the next one to two months. The HKTDC's broader efforts to promote Hong Kong as a two-way global investment and business hub include organising international exhibitions and conferences that create business opportunities for companies.
