The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), in collaboration with Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), is leading a delegation of 21 Hong Kong tech companies and institutions to Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 and making its debut at 4 Years From Now (4YFN) 2026, both taking place concurrently from 2-5 March in Barcelona, Spain. The initiative aims to showcase Hong Kong’s innovation and technology (I&T) capabilities on a global stage, fostering partnerships and investment opportunities.
Building on the momentum from MWC 2025, the Hong Kong Tech Pavilion will feature solutions spanning Devices and Systems, Digital Transformation, and Ecosystem Partners, moving beyond the connectivity category. The dual presence at the world-class tech exhibitions is intended to provide a comprehensive picture of Hong Kong’s I&T strengths, engaging global telecom leaders, enterprise decision-makers, industry partners, and investors. Derek Chim, Head of Startup Ecosystem and Development, HKSTP, emphasized the importance of MWC as a global bellwether for communications technology, providing a solid ground for companies to validate solutions, catalyze pilot projects, accelerate commercialization, and scale internationally. Throughout the events, the Pavilion will host a series of dialogues and exchanges, including networking receptions, themed talks, and pitching sessions, to facilitate partnerships and investment opportunities for market-ready solutions with high potential for expansion.
Two standout examples under the “Connectivity” category illustrate the innovation on display. Shannon & Turing (Asmote), located at MWC, specializes in mmWave technology for Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), including drone communications and control. This technology supports the city’s low-altitude economy initiatives and enhances efficiency in industrial scenarios such as smart ports and dark factories. The company previously secured the world’s first 26GHz mmWave 5G commercial communications project, demonstrating leadership in industrial-grade applications. Cresento, located at 4YFN, focuses on an AI-powered shin guard that delivers real-time performance analytics and team leaderboards for football players. The company is moving from prototypes to pilot collaborations with European football clubs, academies, and sport tech platforms.
The HKTDC and HKSTP continue to join forces to support Hong Kong tech enterprises in their “go global” efforts, building bridges linking tech companies with the world.
