Guests toured the church's facilities, including course rooms where Scientology's practical tools for life are studied, and learned about one-on-one spiritual counseling sessions. They also explored the humanitarian programs sponsored and supported by the church, as well as the life and work of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard.
The Church of Scientology Dallas has expressed a commitment to continued involvement in interfaith activities. According to a representative, the building, opened in April 2009, was designed to serve as a place for all denominations to find tools to improve their lives and communities.
Sharing Sacred Spaces was established after the events of September 11, 2001, with a mission to "overcome bias, misunderstanding and polarization through immersive education and training that makes vivid our common humanity." The organization emphasizes that coming together as an interfaith community is essential for understanding in today's world, noting that commonalities among faiths become evident when working collaboratively on shared issues such as drug abuse, crime, poor education, and troubled homes.
The Interfaith Alliance of Irving, of which the Church of Scientology Dallas is a member, held its monthly meeting at the same location and supported the evening's activities. For years, local Scientology representatives have worked with this group on community initiatives including food and clothing drives, Peace Day celebrations, and visits to other houses of worship.
The event underscored the potential for interfaith cooperation to address societal challenges, demonstrating that despite differing beliefs, faith communities can unite for the common good.
