Lahontan Gold Mobilizes Drill Rig to Santa Fe Mine, Advances Resource Conversion Toward 2026 Mine Planning

Lahontan Gold Corp. (TSX.V: LG) (OTCQB: LGCXF) has mobilized a track-mounted MDP-1500 reverse-circulation drill rig to its flagship Santa Fe Mine in Nevada’s Walker Lane, initiating a strategic fall drill program aimed at expanding and upgrading shallow oxide gold and silver resources. The company plans to complete 25 drill holes totaling 4,000 meters, focusing on the York and Slab zones, where near-surface oxidation mineralization has shown significant silver-gold potential from previous drilling.

This campaign represents a pivotal transition for Lahontan, shifting from broad resource definition to technical groundwork that supports mine planning, scheduling, and permitting. The company’s long-term strategy is to advance the Santa Fe project from exploration into development, targeting 2026 for mine planning. The drill program is designed to convert inferred resources into measured and indicated categories, a critical step for feasibility studies and eventual production.

According to the company, the York and Slab zones contain extensive oxide mineralization that could be amenable to low-cost heap leach extraction. The RC drilling will test extensions of known mineralization and infill gaps in the current resource model. Results are expected to strengthen the project’s economic viability and support ongoing permitting efforts.

Lahontan’s Santa Fe Mine is located within the prolific Walker Lane trend, a region known for its gold and silver deposits. The company has previously reported a resource estimate for the project and is now focusing on upgrading these resources to a higher confidence level. The mobilization of the drill rig underscores Lahontan’s commitment to advancing the project towards a production decision.
