Latin America's Lithium Boom: Key Projects and Investment Opportunities

A new report titled “Lithium projects Latin America” provides a comprehensive overview of key lithium initiatives across Latin America, underscoring the region's growing importance in the global lithium supply chain. The report, prepared by Vostock Capital ahead of the 7th International Congress Lithium Latin America, scheduled for June 4–5, 2026, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, details transformative projects that are driving sustainability and growth in the lithium sector.

Among the notable projects featured is the expansion of the Fénix Project, now part of Arcadium Lithium, with an investment of USD $1.4 billion. The expansion aims to increase production from 18,000 to 40,000 tons of lithium carbonate annually, pending environmental assessments. Another major project is the Rio Tinto Rincon Project, valued at approximately USD $2.5 billion, which will produce lithium from salt brines, aligning with Argentina's strategy to boost lithium output. The Kachi Project, led by Lake Resources in Catamarca, Argentina, involves a planned investment of USD $1.1 billion with an average annual forecast of 25,500 tons of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE).

The report serves as a guide for stakeholders interested in understanding the landscape of lithium investments in Latin America. It is available upon request and will be a key resource for attendees of the congress, which will bring together heads of leading lithium operators from across the region to discuss project development in current economic realities. The event is organized by Vostock Capital, and more information can be found in their newsroom at https://tinyurl.com/vostocknewsroom.

The lithium sector in Latin America is poised for significant growth, driven by increasing global demand for electric vehicle batteries and energy storage solutions. These projects not only represent substantial capital investments but also highlight the region's strategic position in the clean energy transition. The report's release ahead of the congress underscores the urgency and importance of these developments, as companies and governments seek to capitalize on the lithium boom while navigating environmental and economic challenges.
