Lionsgate Play Selects NAGRA Multi-DRM to Secure Premium Streaming Content

In a strategic move to safeguard its growing premium content library, Lionsgate Play Asia has selected NAGRA Multi-DRM from NAGRAVISION, a Kudelski Group company, to protect its OTT platform. The deployment aims to secure the platform's diverse content mix, which includes Hollywood blockbusters and acclaimed regional stories, against the rising threat of piracy in India's fast-evolving streaming landscape.

NAGRA Multi-DRM, a foundational component of the recently launched NAGRA Venturi ecosystem, provides studio-grade content protection while enabling Lionsgate Play to adapt its security measures over time. By integrating this solution, the platform gains the flexibility to strengthen its defenses as piracy tactics evolve, ensuring long-term protection for its content and subscriber base.

Rohit Jain, Founder at Lionsgate Play Asia, emphasized the importance of this partnership: "Protecting the premium stories and entertainment we bring to our subscribers is fundamental to our growth as an OTT platform. Partnering with NAGRAVISION gives us a scalable, future-ready solution that not only safeguards our content across devices but also gives us the flexibility to evolve as piracy tactics continue to change."

India is a key market for content security, with sophisticated piracy operations threatening premium content and subscriber revenue. NAGRA Multi-DRM is designed to mitigate these risks by identifying and addressing illegal distribution early in the value chain. It also simplifies compliance with studio requirements, which is crucial for maintaining distribution partnerships and accelerating subscriber growth.

Morten Solbakken, Executive Vice President and COO of NAGRAVISION, highlighted the strategic value of the collaboration: "Lionsgate Play is a premium service with a strong and growing audience in India. By deploying NAGRA Multi-DRM and gaining access to the broader NAGRA Venturi capabilities, Lionsgate Play is taking a strategic approach to content security that helps protect premium content, preserve revenue, strengthen studio and distribution partnerships, and support long-term growth."

The NAGRA Venturi ecosystem offers a pathway to integrate additional security technologies, creating a unified, intelligence-led security approach. This enables Lionsgate Play to prioritize and respond to emerging threats effectively, turning security into a value driver rather than just a defense mechanism.

This partnership underscores NAGRAVISION's expansion in high-growth streaming markets and its commitment to helping content owners and service providers protect their assets. For Lionsgate Play, which reaches over 40 million viewers in India and operates across eight Asian markets, the enhanced security is expected to strengthen subscriber trust and support its ambitious growth roadmap.

Lionsgate Play operates under a multi-year licensing agreement with Lionsgate, providing access to the studio's global film and television catalogue. The platform is available through partnerships with Bharti Airtel, Prime Video Channels, Tata Play Binge, and other distributors, offering subscriptions at INR 449 quarterly and INR 999 annually. With NAGRA Multi-DRM in place, the platform aims to deliver a seamless and secure viewing experience, reinforcing its position in the competitive streaming market.
