MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) has announced a significant step forward in its natural hydrogen exploration efforts, with the interpretation of 3D seismic data at its 28-square-kilometer Lawson Complex in Saskatchewan identifying the first series of high-priority follow-up drill targets. The company plans an expanded near-term multi-well program aimed at commercial validation of its natural hydrogen system.
According to the company, surveying has been completed for six proposed initial well locations, with the first three drill targets finalized and well licensing expected in the coming days. The drilling campaign will focus on evaluating key commercial parameters including gas flow, volume, concentration, reservoir continuity, pressure response and potential helium content, while refining exploration and production models in real time.
MAX Power is also expanding its regional exploration efforts through aggressive 2D seismic data acquisition across the 475-kilometer Genesis Trend, which the company believes could host multiple additional natural hydrogen prospects. The company holds approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits covering prime exploration ground prospective for large-volume accumulations of natural hydrogen in Saskatchewan.
The Lawson Discovery near Central Butte, Saskatchewan, represents Canada's first-ever subsurface natural hydrogen system confirmed through deep drilling with data validated by three independent labs. This discovery underscores the potential for natural hydrogen as a clean energy source, as it can be extracted directly from the ground without the energy-intensive processes required for green or blue hydrogen production.
The implications of this announcement are significant for the emerging natural hydrogen industry. If successful, the drilling program could demonstrate the commercial viability of natural hydrogen, potentially unlocking a new, low-carbon energy resource. The identification of multiple drill targets and the expansion of seismic surveys suggest that MAX Power is systematically de-risking its project and moving toward production.
MAX Power is also advancing its critical minerals portfolio, including a 2024 diamond drilling discovery at the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona, 100%-owned by its U.S. subsidiary. The company is committed to responsible exploration and development practices that prioritize environmental stewardship, meaningful community engagement, and strong corporate governance.
