Meyer Wilson Werning Launches Cryptocurrency Fraud Awareness Scholarship for Students

Meyer Wilson Werning, a law firm specializing in financial fraud recovery, has announced the creation of the Cryptocurrency Fraud Awareness Scholarship, offering $2,500 to a student who proposes actionable strategies to reduce cryptocurrency investment fraud. The scholarship is open to students enrolled in accredited colleges, universities, or graduate schools across the United States. Applicants must submit a 500- to 1,000-word essay that includes at least three actionable strategies to combat fraud, one personal action they could take to protect their families or communities, and an explanation of why their proposed solutions would succeed.

Applications are open until September 15, 2026, and must be submitted through the firm's scholarship page, along with proof of enrollment and unofficial transcripts. The scholarship is part of Meyer Wilson Werning's broader efforts to raise awareness about cryptocurrency fraud, which the firm's cryptocurrency hacking and theft lawyers have observed as a growing portion of their caseload.

Courtney M. Werning, Esq., a partner at Meyer Wilson Werning, emphasized the importance of educating younger generations and the public. "We're raising awareness of that fact while simultaneously warning the American public, through the college-aged applicants, of how bad this is. People should be checking in on their parents and grandparents right now," Werning said. She noted that cryptocurrency fraud is expected to continue growing in 2026 and has become a significant part of the firm's practice.

In addition to the scholarship, Meyer Wilson Werning has conducted 11 Continuing Legal Education (CLE) sessions last year and appeared in publications like USA Today to educate professionals and the public about financial fraud prevention. The firm has over 75 years of combined experience and has recovered more than $350 million for clients affected by fraud and misconduct. Werning serves on the Public Investors Advocate Bar Association (PIABA) Board of Directors and the FINRA National Arbitration and Mediation Committee (NAMC), helping shape rules and processes for investor disputes nationwide.

The scholarship aims to encourage students to think critically about cryptocurrency fraud, which often targets vulnerable individuals through sophisticated online manipulation and fake investment platforms. By proposing real-world solutions, students can contribute to public education and protection efforts. Meyer Wilson Werning's team works to hold scammers accountable in cases involving fraudulent exchanges, phishing schemes, and fake platforms.

Interested students can find more details on the application process and eligibility requirements by visiting the firm's scholarship page. The firm hopes that this initiative will not only support a deserving student but also amplify awareness of cryptocurrency fraud risks across communities.
