Author Nadeem Iqbal, who served 16 years as an intelligence officer for the Department of Defense with deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq, and as the Pentagon's Syria Country Director, emphasizes that viewing the Syrian conflict as a single war oversimplifies the complex reality. 'We keep talking about the war in Syria as if it were one thing,' Iqbal says.
