Ocumetics Technology Corp. (TSXV: OTC) (OTCQB: OTCFF) (FRA: 2QBO) has announced positive six-month results from its First-in-Human (FIH) clinical study, supporting advancement to Group Two surgeries. The company also reported completion of a next-generation accommodating intraocular lens design, commencement of manufacturing in Germany, and a financing initiative to fund the next phase of clinical development and accelerate commercialization.
The six-month follow-up data from Group One patients continues to demonstrate encouraging safety and performance outcomes, with successful implantation procedures and favorable post-operative results. The study has achieved its primary objectives related to safety, lens delivery, and distance vision correction. Notably, one patient previously considered legally blind is now qualified to drive, highlighting meaningful improvements in vision and quality of life.
Based on these positive outcomes, Ocumetics is advancing to the second group of its FIH study (Group Two), which remains on schedule for Q3 2026 in Mexico City under Principal Investigator Dr. Raphael Vasquez. The company has completed all regulatory requirements necessary to proceed to Group Two patient enrollment.
Ocumetics has completed development of its next-generation solid-state accommodating intraocular lens, which incorporates advancements intended to improve manufacturability, surgical handling, long-term reliability, and accommodative performance. The redesigned lens features a simplified one-piece architecture with no internal interface materials, eliminating air, water, or oil. Expected benefits include enhanced accommodative performance, improved manufacturing consistency, optimized surgical implantation characteristics, and greater scalability for commercial manufacturing.
Manufacturing of the redesigned Ocumetics Lens has commenced with the company's German manufacturing partner, Amiplant GmbH. Upcoming activities include finalization of manufacturing, product verification, sterilization, packaging, and release of clinical inventory ahead of the planned Q3 2026 surgeries.
To support completion of the FIH clinical study and prepare for subsequent regulatory submissions, Ocumetics has launched a financing initiative. Proceeds are expected to be used to complete Group Two surgeries, finalize manufacturing and quality verification of clinical lenses, complete sterilization and packaging activities, advance regulatory and quality assurance programs, and continue strategic partnership and commercialization initiatives. During recent investor conferences, Ocumetics conducted more than 50 one-on-one meetings with institutional investors, family offices, high-net-worth investors, and strategic industry participants.
The company continues to engage with several of the world's leading ophthalmic organizations regarding potential strategic partnerships and commercialization opportunities. To date, management has met with representatives from four of the world's seven largest ophthalmic companies to introduce the Ocumetics technology platform. Based on feedback, several organizations have expressed interest in reviewing additional clinical data following completion of Group Two surgeries, with follow-up discussions tentatively scheduled for early Q4 2026.
