PFISTERER Invests $2.7 Million in Rochester Facility to Meet Surging U.S. Demand for Data Center Connectors

PFISTERER is significantly expanding its U.S. manufacturing footprint with a $2.7 million investment in its Rochester, New York facility. The company will add three CNC lathes, tooling, and related production equipment to increase capacity for SICON shearbolt connector components by two and a half times. This move underscores the growing importance of the North American market for the German-based technology company and highlights the critical role of reliable power connections in the ongoing digital infrastructure boom.

The investment is a direct response to escalating demand. More than half of PFISTERER's SICON connectors are now sold in the United States, driven largely by the rapid expansion of data centers. These facilities require high-performance, exceptionally reliable connections to the power grid. SICON connectors are uniquely positioned to meet these needs, having been tested to the North American ANSI C119.4 standard and certified as the only connectors that meet its stringent Class 2 requirements. They are also type-tested according to IEC 61238-1, Class A, ensuring they can handle a variety of conductor materials, cable types, and cross-sections.

By localizing production, PFISTERER is advancing its "Local-for-Local" strategy. Instead of importing products from Germany, the company will manufacture directly in the U.S. for the U.S. market. This approach shortens delivery times, improves responsiveness to customer needs, and reduces transportation-related emissions. It also strengthens the resilience of the supply chain, a critical factor as utilities and data center operators seek to accelerate project timelines.

"With the expansion of our production in Rochester, we are taking an important step in our growth strategy for the U.S. market," said Johannes Linden, member and spokesperson of the Executive Board of PFISTERER Holding SE. "We manufacture where our products are needed, thereby strengthening our local presence and enabling us to supply our customers more quickly and flexibly. The investment not only significantly increases our production capacity but also creates additional qualified jobs at the site."

The implications extend beyond PFISTERER's balance sheet. As data centers proliferate across the U.S., the demand for robust electrical infrastructure grows in tandem. SICON connectors play a vital role in ensuring that power supply for these critical facilities is secure and scalable. By expanding U.S. production, PFISTERER is not only positioning itself to capture a larger share of this high-growth market but also contributing to the reliability of the digital economy. The Rochester facility will become a central node in PFISTERER's global production network, enhancing delivery capacity and flexibility.

PFISTERER, headquartered in Winterbach, Germany, has been a leading provider of power connection solutions since 1921. With 19 locations in 15 countries and customers in over 90 countries, the company's decision to invest in Rochester reflects a broader trend of regionalizing production to better serve local markets.
