Quantum BioPharma Advances LUCID-MS Toward Phase 2 Trial for Multiple Sclerosis

Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) is advancing its lead multiple sclerosis therapy candidate, LUCID-MS, into patient-focused studies after reporting positive safety results from Phase 1 clinical trials in healthy volunteers. The therapy is designed to target demyelination and restore myelin integrity, offering a potentially first-in-class approach that directly addresses myelin loss and neurodegeneration rather than relying solely on immune modulation.

The company submitted an Investigational New Drug application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in April 2026, paving the way for a planned Phase 2 clinical trial in people living with multiple sclerosis. Quantum BioPharma believes LUCID-MS may provide a differentiated treatment option because it aims to prevent and reverse myelin degradation, the underlying mechanism of MS, as demonstrated in preclinical models.

To support the clinical program, the company is planning a partnership with Allucent, a clinical research organization, and engaging neurological specialists. The Phase 1 studies showed that LUCID-MS was generally well tolerated with a favorable safety profile, supporting the move into patient studies.

Quantum BioPharma is a biopharmaceutical company focused on neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders and alcohol misuse. Through its wholly owned subsidiary Lucid Psycheceuticals Inc., it is developing LUCID-MS, a patented new chemical entity. The company also retains a 19.84% stake in Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., which markets the OTC product unbuzzd, and receives royalty payments of 7% of sales until $250 million is reached, then 3% in perpetuity. Quantum BioPharma retains full rights to develop similar products for pharmaceutical and medical uses.
