REPLOID Group AG has announced the consolidation of its fertilizer business into a dedicated company, REPLOID REGREEN GmbH (REGREEN), based in Wels, Austria. The new entity will produce and market organic fertilizers made from insect frass, a nutrient-rich by-product generated when Black Soldier Fly larvae process organic residues from the food industry in REPLOID's ReFarmUnits. Andreas Steinbüchler, a veteran with over 25 years in the fertilizer industry, has been appointed Managing Director.
The spin-off is a strategic move to structure REPLOID's planned entry into the fertilizer market. Market entry is slated for fall 2026, initially with fertilizer sticks for potted plants, followed by a lawn fertilizer and an agricultural fertilizer for commercial farming later that year. The focus will be on Central Europe, where the fertilizer market faces structural pressures including heavy reliance on imported mineral fertilizers, tightening regulations, and increasingly degraded soils. Organic fertilizers like those from REGREEN can complement mineral fertilizers by improving nutrient efficiency, building soil organic matter, and enhancing resilience to drought stress.
Andreas Steinbüchler, Managing Director of REPLOID REGREEN, emphasized the company's mission: "Europe imports fertilizer while its soils are being depleted. Neither is a viable option in the long run. With REGREEN, we are deliberately building what has been missing: a regionally produced organic fertilizer that makes soils more fertile over the long term. With a focused company within the REPLOID Group, we gain the speed and agility to successfully develop the market with innovative products."
Philip Pauer, CEO and Founder of REPLOID Group AG, highlighted the strategic importance: "With REGREEN, we are giving our fertilizer business its own, effective structure and, in Andreas Steinbüchler, a leader with many years of industry experience. This underscores that the fertilizer segment is a strategic growth pillar for us, with enormous scaling potential."
Steinbüchler brings extensive experience, including over 15 years in leadership roles across sales, supply chain, and finance, and served as Chief Commercial Officer of LAT Nitrogen GmbH, Europe's second-largest fertilizer producer, from 2018 to 2023. He also served as President of Fertilizers Europe from 2021 to 2023.
REPLOID Group AG, founded in 2020 and headquartered in Wels, Austria, offers an innovative system for industrial utilization of regional organic residues from the food industry. The company builds modular and scalable insect-rearing plants (ReFarmUnits) for customers, who can use the larvae and by-products themselves or return them to REPLOID for centralized marketing. REPLOID sells larvae directly or after processing into proteins and fats for animal feed, and produces premium organic fertilizer from insect frass. The company has been listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange's direct market plus segment since July 2025 and employs over 190 people.
