Sherwood Auto Repair, a family-owned automotive repair shop, is celebrating 40 years of serving the community. Founded in 1986 by Felix LaPlante in Old Town Sherwood, the business has grown and evolved over four decades, now located in Tualatin, Oregon. The milestone underscores the rarity of a small business surviving and thriving for so long, especially one that has remained in the same family across three generations.
The shop's longevity is rooted in its unwavering focus on trusted service, great people, and lasting relationships. Today, the business is owned by Felix's son, Scott LaPlante, who has continued the family tradition into its second generation. That tradition now extends to a third generation, with Scott's son, Alden LaPlante, working as part of the team. This multi-generational involvement is central to the shop's identity and its ability to connect with customers over the long term.
To commemorate the milestone, Sherwood Auto Repair is inviting customers, friends, neighbors, and community members to a 40th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, October 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the shop, located at 9965 SW Tualatin-Sherwood Road in Tualatin. The event will feature catering from Koi Fusion and a bounce house for kids, making it an afternoon for the whole family. The celebration is open to the community, reflecting the shop's deep ties to the area it serves.
"Forty years is an incredible milestone for our family and our team," said Scott LaPlante, owner of Sherwood Auto Repair. "We wouldn't be here without the generations of customers who have trusted us with their vehicles, the people who have worked alongside us, and the community that has supported this business over the years. This celebration is really about saying thank you."
Since its founding, Sherwood Auto Repair has witnessed tremendous changes in both the automotive industry and the community. Through those changes, the business has remained locally owned and family operated, combining modern automotive technology and expertise with the personal relationships and commitment to service that have been part of the shop since Felix first opened its doors. The shop's ability to adapt while preserving its core values has been key to its survival and success.
The 40th anniversary is not just a celebration of longevity but also a testament to the importance of family businesses in the community. As Sherwood Auto Repair looks ahead, it continues to provide comprehensive automotive service backed by a 5-Year/75,000-Mile warranty, maintaining the family and community relationships on which the business was built. The event serves as a reminder of the enduring value of local, family-owned enterprises and their role in fostering community bonds.
