TAMPA, FL — A new platform called Single Social Club is launching in Tampa Bay with a simple proposition for singles exhausted by dating apps: stop dating for a minute and go live. Founded by professional matchmaker Felicity G. Morgan, who runs Assured Matchmaking, and co-founded with technology lead Greg Miceli, the service aims to address growing frustration with swipe-based dating by shifting the focus from profiles to shared activities.
Single Social Club is not a dating app. It has no swiping. Instead, members choose from more than 157 activity options—kayaking, pickleball, dining, trivia, fitness, and more—and indicate their availability, travel range, and preferred age ranges. The platform then finds overlapping schedules and interests to form small groups of approximately six to eight people. “If you’re free Saturday from two to seven and somebody else is free from three to six, we don’t need six text messages asking, ‘What time works for you?’” Morgan said. “We already have the overlap.”
The launch comes amid rising concern over dating-app burnout. Research has increasingly examined emotional exhaustion among users, and viral formats like Pop the Balloon and Love Is Blind highlight how quickly people eliminate potential matches. Morgan believes singles are “incredibly efficient at disqualifying each other” based on superficial details. Single Social Club flips that sequence: activity first, person second, romance only if it develops. Members interact using code names like Bee, Fox, or Turtle before revealing full identities, giving them breathing room to connect without immediately sharing personal contact information.
The platform is designed for a broad audience: people taking a break from dating, newly divorced parents rebuilding social lives, professionals whose friends are married or busy, and anyone tired of first-date interviews. “Sometimes you don’t need another date,” Morgan said. “Sometimes you need to go live. Go do something you’ve always wanted to try. Meet some people. Maybe you make a friend. Maybe you discover something about yourself. Maybe somebody catches your attention. And maybe nobody does.”
If a connection does form, members can privately indicate interest after an activity. Only mutual interest is revealed, and Morgan’s other business, Assured Matchmaking, can optionally help participants explore next steps. There is no public rejection board or popularity counter. “Most technology is designed to keep you on the screen,” Miceli said. “We’re building something that’s supposed to help you get off the screen.”
Single Social Club is a web app accessible via browser, and users can save it to their home screen for app-like access. While it can be used beyond Florida, initial efforts are concentrated in Tampa Bay, with plans to expand as participation grows. To encourage trials, the platform offers introductory access for $1 for the first 30 days; after that, membership renews at $20 per month for the Basic plan, covering up to five activity opportunities monthly. Third-party costs like venue fees or transportation are separate.
For Morgan, the invitation is straightforward: “Don’t join because I promised you’re going to meet the love of your life. I can’t promise that, and neither can anybody else. Join because there’s something you’ve been wanting to do. Go do it. Let life surprise you from there.” The launch matters because it offers a concrete alternative to the fatigue and superficiality many singles experience, prioritizing genuine shared experiences over algorithmic matchmaking.
