SS Innovations Appoints Veteran Medtech CFO as Global Robotic Surgery Expansion Accelerates

SS Innovations International (NASDAQ: SSII), a developer of innovative surgical robotic technologies, has appointed veteran medical technology finance executive Sarah M. Romano as chief financial officer, adding public-company financial and capital markets experience as the surgical robotics developer continues its global expansion and advances regulatory initiatives. The appointment, effective August 3, comes at a time when SS Innovations is pursuing broader commercialization of its SSi Mantra robotic surgical platform while continuing preparations for U.S. Food and Drug Administration review (https://nnw.fm/yY4UM).

Romano brings more than two decades of experience in public-company finance, capital markets, and medical technology, having raised more than $100 million during her career. She joins SS Innovations after serving as chief financial officer at Vicarious Surgical, another developer of robotic surgical technologies, where she oversaw financial and operational initiatives designed to reduce cash burn, strengthen the company’s balance sheet and support its strategic initiatives.

The appointment underscores SS Innovations’ commitment to building a strong financial foundation as it scales its operations internationally. The company recently graduated the inaugural class of its SS International Centre for Robotics Surgery (“SSICRS”) cardiac robotic surgery training program, welcoming 33 healthcare professionals from seven countries. This milestone highlights the company’s emphasis on surgeon education alongside technology deployment, which is critical for the adoption of robotic surgery.

SS Innovations continues to pursue U.S. FDA clearance for its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system, a key regulatory step that could open the large U.S. market. Meanwhile, the company is expanding its international footprint, leveraging training programs and partnerships to drive adoption of its platform. The addition of a seasoned CFO like Romano is seen as a strategic move to navigate the capital-intensive nature of medtech development and commercialization.
