(Nasdaq: SSII) unveiled several cutting-edge surgical robotic technologies at the Global Multi-Specialty Robotic Surgery Conference (SMRSC 2026) held in New Delhi, India. The company presented its vision for the SSi Vimana Aero drone system, the SSi Avtara humanoid surgical platform, the SSi Operion mobile operating room, and new single-arm robotic endoscopy and ultrasound assist carts. These innovations aim to extend the reach of robotic surgery to battlefields, disaster zones, and underserved regions, aligning with the company's mission to make robotic surgery affordable and accessible globally.
The SSi Vimana Aero is designed to deliver expert surgical care to wounded soldiers in active combat zones. Deployed via a heavy-lift autonomous drone, the system lands near the casualty and deploys two miniature robotic arms with seven degrees of freedom. A remote trauma surgeon can operate the system through an SSi Mantra surgeon command center, using 5-millimeter instruments to address hemorrhaging, wound repair, chest decompression, shrapnel extraction, and field suturing. This capability aims to stabilize patients before evacuation, potentially reducing mortality in critical time gaps.
The SSi Avtara humanoid surgical platform is another conceptual development that leverages humanoid mobility, dexterity, and perception for surgical applications. Integrated with artificial intelligence and teleoperation frameworks, the platform is intended for trainability and continuous learning, enabling it to assist in clinical workflows and operate in hazardous environments. Its human-compatible design is expected to allow seamless interaction with existing infrastructure and tools.
The SSi Operion is a fully mobile, platform-agnostic operating room ecosystem built on a wheeled chassis with overhead-integrated robotics and a zero-footprint architecture. By suspending surgical components from an overhead system, it eliminates conventional spatial constraints, providing 360-degree clinician access and real-time reconfiguration. With integrated telesurgery capabilities, the SSi Operion aims to enable remote expert surgery, transforming the OR into a deployable asset for defense operations, humanitarian missions, and rural healthcare delivery.
Additionally, the company's new single-arm robotic endoscopy and ultrasound assist carts are in early clinical validation phases in India. These carts provide stable positioning of endoscopic and ultrasound instruments under clinician supervision, with controlled speed and force limits to ensure safety. Compatibility with standard hospital infrastructure allows for seamless integration into existing clinical settings.

Panel discussions covered urology, thoracic, gastroenterology, head & neck, gynecology, colorectal, general, and pediatric surgery, with separate cardiac-focused sessions.
