Stabilus SE (WKN: STAB1L, ISIN: DE000STAB1L8), a leading supplier of motion control solutions, is expanding its industrial automation business by bundling the technological expertise of its expert brands under the umbrella of Stabilus4Automation. The group aims to offer integrated solutions for automated production processes, with an increasing focus on robotics applications.
With the combined know-how of Stabilus, ACE, Destaco, Fabreeka, and Hahn Gasfedern brands, Stabilus offers a globally unique portfolio for automation technology, covering damping technology, speed control, and vibration isolation. Customers benefit from tailor-made solutions that can be aligned with individual performance requirements. According to recent market studies, the global addressable market for end-of-arm tooling, gripping systems, and robotic tooling solutions amounts to approximately EUR 3 billion and is expected to grow at a double-digit rate in the coming years, underscoring the strategic relevance for Stabilus.
Growth through new products is a core element of the company's strategy. Over the long term, around EUR 500 million in revenue is expected from new, innovative products that deliver above-average margin levels, with the Automation segment, including robotics, making a significant contribution. Stabilus also plans to implement selected automation solutions in its own production plants to optimize manufacturing processes and leverage efficiency gains.
Industrial robotics is an attractive field of development for Stabilus. Existing products for controlled movement, damping, and vibration reduction are increasingly deployed in highly dynamic, automated handling and manufacturing processes. Jurgen Roland, Head of the business unit Industrial Components, said: 'We view industrial automation as an integrated system of the required movements – from the gripper and vibration isolation to drive solution. In the field of cobots and robots with small payloads, we already offer powerful end-of-arm tools and advanced solutions. We are already working with more than 100 partners worldwide in the field of robotics.'
One example of the group-wide approach is a handling solution developed jointly by Destaco and ACE, combining automation expertise and damping technology into an end-of-arm tool (EOAT) that integrates ACE's MC series miniature shock absorbers. This enhances handling of packages of varying sizes and weights while improving protection of peripheral equipment and overall efficiency. These applications illustrate Stabilus' focus on modular, scalable solutions that can be flexibly integrated into existing production lines.
Driven by trends such as the shortage of skilled workers and increasing quality requirements, industrial automation and robotics continue to gain importance, offering Stabilus additional growth prospects in industrial end markets with long-term investment logic.
