Trilogy Metals Advances Critical Minerals Potential in Alaska's Ambler Mining District

Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ), through its joint venture Ambler Metals with South32, is advancing two cornerstone assets in Alaska's Ambler Mining District: the Arctic copper-zinc-lead-silver-gold deposit and the Bornite copper-cobalt deposit. The district, host to world-class volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits, is emerging as a key contributor to U.S. critical minerals security.

In a recent interview at the Zurich Precious Metals Summit, Trilogy President and CEO Tony Giardini emphasized the district-scale upside of the Ambler Mining District. He noted geological similarities to legendary North American mining camps such as Noranda and Flin Flon, which became globally significant mining centers once access infrastructure was built. According to Giardini, the Ambler Belt trend runs roughly 100 kilometers but has seen only about 200,000 meters of drilling—a fraction of the millions of meters drilled in comparable belts over decades. This disparity underscores the immense discovery potential remaining in the district.

The Ambler Metals joint venture, formed in December 2019 when South32 exercised its option, holds a 100% interest in the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects. Trilogy Metals owns a 50% interest in Ambler Metals. The projects are located within a land package spanning approximately 190,929 hectares. Exploration has focused on the Arctic VMS deposit and the Bornite carbonate replacement deposit, which has shown high-grade copper and cobalt mineralization.

Ambler Metals has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., an Alaska Native Corporation, providing a framework for exploration and potential development in cooperation with local communities. Trilogy Metals' vision is to develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier North American copper producer while protecting subsistence livelihoods.

The recent article featuring Trilogy Metals highlights the strategic importance of domestic critical mineral production. With growing demand for copper and cobalt in renewable energy and electric vehicle technologies, the development of these resources in Alaska could reduce reliance on foreign supply chains.
