For a decade, patients across Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area have consistently chosen Tropical Orthodontics for their orthodontic needs, a pattern now formally recognized with the 2026 Consumer Choice Award for Business Excellence. This marks the tenth consecutive year the practice has received the honour, having been named every year from 2017 through 2026. The award is one of Canada's most respected business recognition programs, identifying organizations that demonstrate outstanding service and customer satisfaction. Such sustained recognition matters because it signals reliability and quality in a healthcare field where trust is paramount, and it highlights how a single practice can elevate standards across a competitive region.
The implications of this milestone extend beyond a trophy. In orthodontics, where treatment often spans years and involves children, teens, and adults, patient satisfaction is a direct reflection of clinical outcomes and care experience. Earning the Consumer Choice Award annually for a decade suggests that Tropical Orthodontics has consistently delivered on both fronts. The practice, led by Dr. Joel Schacher, has become one of the most recognized orthodontic practices in Mississauga and the Greater Toronto Area. With more than 40 years of experience, Dr. Schacher has helped thousands of patients achieve healthier, more confident smiles through advanced treatment and personalized care.
Dr. Schacher's credentials further explain the practice's staying power. A graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry, he completed orthodontic specialty training at the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, New York. He is the founder and president of the Ontario Damon Study Club, has taught orthodontics to dental residents at Hamilton General Hospital, and has served as a guest lecturer for graduate orthodontic residents. His professional leadership has earned respect from colleagues and patients alike, reinforcing the practice's reputation for clinical excellence.
The recognition also carries weight for the broader community. Located in the heart of Mississauga, Tropical Orthodontics serves patients from Brampton, Oakville, Milton, Etobicoke, and across the Greater Toronto Area. Its patient-first approach combines modern technology with customized treatment plans focused on long-term oral health and exceptional outcomes. Over the years, the practice has built a reputation for orthodontic care that prioritizes comfort, efficiency, and results, embracing innovative approaches that reduce the need for unnecessary tooth extractions and invasive procedures.
"Receiving the Consumer Choice Award for ten consecutive years, from 2017 through 2026, is an incredible honour," said Dr. Joel Schacher, Certified Orthodontist and Founder of Tropical Orthodontics. "This recognition reflects the trust our patients and families place in us every day. We remain committed to delivering exceptional orthodontic care, embracing innovation, and helping every patient achieve a healthy, confident smile."
The practice offers a comprehensive range of services, including Invisalign and clear aligners, Pitts 21 braces, Damon braces, adult orthodontics, teen orthodontics, bite correction treatment, non-extraction orthodontics, and smile enhancement and teeth alignment treatment. It is particularly recognized for advanced treatment systems that support efficient tooth movement, improved patient comfort, and healthier long-term results.
This tenth consecutive award represents more than a milestone; it signals to prospective patients that Tropical Orthodontics has maintained a high standard of care over a decade, building lasting relationships with families. As the practice celebrates this achievement, it remains focused on continuing the innovation and patient experience that have defined it for more than ten years, a commitment that matters in a region where healthcare choices are abundant and trust must be earned repeatedly.
