The increase, which is smaller than anticipated, will raise the typical monthly bill from $118.43 to $119.49, an additional $1.06 per month.
According to the company, the adjustment reflects higher natural gas supply costs in the wholesale market. UGI purchases natural gas on behalf of its customers and passes those costs through without markup, as regulated by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. The purchased gas cost rate is reviewed quarterly to align with market conditions.
The announcement comes as energy prices have been volatile globally. UGI noted that the 0.9% increase is significantly lower than some recent projections, providing some relief to consumers. The company emphasized its commitment to managing costs and providing reliable service.
