Vinhomes has unveiled the master plan for Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long, a sprawling 6,200-hectare integrated urban development adjacent to the UNESCO-listed Ha Long Bay. This project, the company's largest to date, signals a paradigm shift in urban development: success is no longer measured by sheer land area but by the value each hectare delivers to residents and the environment.
Traditionally, master-planned communities of 2,500 acres or more have been considered large scale. However, with mounting pressures from climate change, population growth, and evolving mobility patterns, cities must do more than expand. As the OECD highlights, future cities must connect people to jobs and services, enhance climate resilience, and integrate nature into urban infrastructure. Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long is designed to embody these principles, serving as a fully integrated city rather than a mere residential complex.
Strategically located along the Hanoi–Hai Phong–Quang Ninh Expressway, at the crossroads of northern Vietnam's tourism and industrial corridors, the project is positioned to become a hub of connectivity. Its proximity to the future depot of the Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed railway is expected to slash travel time to Hanoi to approximately 23 minutes, enabling seamless daily commutes between metropolitan intensity and the natural beauty of Ha Long Bay. This connectivity is central to the master plan, which aims to shorten distances between living, working, learning, and leisure.
The development spans six districts, offering villas, townhouses, shophouses, and high-rise apartments, all with uninterrupted views of Ha Long Bay. But the project's ambition extends far beyond housing. Over 2,500 hectares are devoted to green spaces, water bodies, and mangroves, including 680 hectares of naturally filtered seawater and the 660-hectare Globe Ha Long Forest Park. This ecological infrastructure is designed to support biodiversity, bolster climate resilience, and promote healthier living, aligning with Vinhomes' ESG++ vision for regenerative urban development.
Culturally, the city will feature a 60,000-seat waterfront venue, the 3,000-seat Wonder Theatre, and an 81-hectare VinWonders destination, including what is planned to be the world's largest aquarium park. An international convention center, a Vietnamese Cultural and Culinary Village, and a 950-hectare golf complex with 12 courses will cater to leisure and business. The hospitality sector includes luxury hotels and integrated casino facilities, while Wonder Marina offers direct access to Ha Long Bay.
Commerce and lifestyle are anchored by Vincom Mega Mall, premium outlet shopping, and dedicated lifestyle streets, ensuring a 24-hour retail and dining environment. For sports and wellness, the project introduces Vietnam's first purpose-built Sports District, spanning 13.3 hectares, along with a professional sports academy and over 50 kilometers of cycling routes. Health and education needs are met by the 14-hectare Vinmec Cleveland Clinic International Hospital, Vietnam's largest senior living center, and multiple educational institutions, including Vinschool campuses and an American international school.
Economic vitality is driven by a new central business district featuring office towers of 30 to 45 stories, poised to attract domestic and international businesses and cement Ha Long's role as a major economic hub. The entire development is planned in alignment with ISO 37125, the international standard for sustainable urban development, and incorporates smart technologies like AI and IoT to optimize city operations and green mobility.
By prioritizing connectivity, regeneration, and excellence, Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long aims to demonstrate how mobility, environmental stewardship, public services, commerce, and culture can coalesce within a single planning framework.
