Prof. Dr. Rubhausen heads the Optics Working Group at the Institute of Nanostructure and Solid-State Physics at Universität Hamburg and serves as the Institute's Managing Director. He is also affiliated with the Center for Free-Electron Laser Science (CFEL). His research focuses on modern spectroscopic methods, including Raman spectroscopy and ellipsometry, which he applies to study superconductors, quantum materials, and biological samples at large-scale research facilities such as PETRA III and FLASH. His interdisciplinary work has resulted in over 180 publications with approximately 4,000 citations in prestigious journals, including Physical Review Letters, JACS, Angewandte Chemie, Nature Chemistry, Nature Physics, and Nature Communications. Additionally, he develops AI-supported analysis workflows for complex datasets.
