Wearable Devices and Encord Team Up to Advance Physical AI Training Data

Wearable Devices Ltd. (NASDAQ: WLDS), a pioneer in AI-powered neural input technology, has entered into a strategic collaboration agreement with Cord Technologies Inc. (Encord), a provider of Physical AI data infrastructure. The partnership aims to develop multimodal training datasets that integrate neuromuscular signals from wrist-worn devices with visual data, addressing key challenges in training physical AI systems.

The collaboration, led by Wearable Devices' Physical AI business unit, Kavana, will leverage the company's Mudra Pro and Mudra Ultimate devices, which capture surface electromyography (sEMG) signals. These signals can complement camera-based data in situations where hands, fingers, or objects are partially obscured, enhancing the robustness of training datasets for robotics and other physical AI applications. Under the agreement, Encord will purchase Wearable Devices' wrist-worn devices and use the collected data to develop datasets for third-party Physical AI and robotics developers, subject to licensing and commercialization terms. Wearable Devices will receive revenue from device sales and usage-based compensation for qualifying data collection activities.

The companies are already collaborating on data collection, testing, and integration, with plans to explore applications in humanoid robotics and advanced robotic manipulation. This collaboration positions Wearable Devices at the intersection of neural sensing and physical AI, a rapidly growing field that seeks to bridge the gap between digital intelligence and physical action. By providing a commercial framework for data collection, the agreement could accelerate the development of more capable and adaptable robotic systems.

Wearable Devices has established itself as a leader in neural input technology through its consumer products, the Mudra Band and Mudra Link, which enable touch-free control of digital devices using gestures. The company operates through a dual-channel model of direct-to-consumer sales and enterprise licensing, targeting markets such as gaming, productivity, and extended reality (XR). The newly launched ai6 Labs ecosystem further integrates research, products, and AI breakthroughs to drive innovation.

For investors, this collaboration signals Wearable Devices' expansion into the enterprise and robotics sectors, potentially opening new revenue streams beyond consumer wearables. The Physical AI market is expected to grow significantly as industries seek to automate complex physical tasks, and Wearable Devices' unique sEMG technology could become a critical component in training datasets. However, future commercial activity will depend on customer demand and the implementation of the collaboration.
