Western Star Resources Inc. (CSE: WSR) (OTC: WSRIF) reported certified laboratory assay results from its inaugural programs at the Rowland Tungsten Property and adjoining White Star Tungsten Project in Elko County, Nevada. The results include a peak rock-chip assay of 4.02% WO3 from the Rowland Main workings, with additional standout results of 3.00% WO3 from the White Star Batholith Mine. These grades exceed twice the reported historical grades, marking a significant development for the district.
The Rowland property sampling program tested three zones of historical workings: Northern Zone A, Northern Zone B, and Rowland Main. At Rowland Main, 18 rock-chip, float, and channel samples returned values including 4.02%, 2.69%, 2.56%, 2.11%, and 1.25% WO3, with coincident molybdenum up to 110.5 ppm, silver up to 6.82 g/t, copper up to 0.4%, and manganese up to 2.57%. Northern Zone B yielded samples from 0.35% to 1.22% WO3, with elevated silver (up to 10.85 g/t) and molybdenum (up to 119.5 ppm). Northern Zone A returned 0.23% WO3 with silver and molybdenum credits.
At the White Star project, initial rock-chip sampling returned 3.00% WO3 and 711 ppm Mo from sample WS-16-02, collected from an area not previously known to be mineralized. A second sample returned 0.13% WO3. The results are consistent with historical production grades from the Batholith/Mission Cross Mine.
CEO Blake Morgan stated, "Receiving results of this tenor, that exceed twice the reported historical grades mark an exciting development at the Rowland and White Star Properties, and demonstrate the high-grade nature of the system in the district." The company plans to integrate these assays with completed UAV magnetic geophysical surveys and pending soil geochemistry to support drill target generation across the consolidated Jarbidge-Charleston tungsten footprint.
The results underscore the potential for domestic tungsten supply in the U.S., as tungsten is considered a critical mineral. Western Star Resources is positioning itself to participate in the growing need for secure domestic critical mineral supply. Further soil sampling is ongoing, and additional updates are expected as results are received.
